Improve the look of your Excel files by using a graphical filter called a Slicer. Instead of dropdowns, you get big clickable buttons to filter your data: Follow these simple steps to learn how to create one:

    Step 1

How to Add a Slicer for a PivotTable
Create your PivotTable (Insert → PivotTable).

    Click anywhere inside the PivotTable.

Go to the PivotTable Analyze tab (or Options in older versions).

    Click Insert Slicer.

A dialog box pops up — check the box(es) for the field(s) you want to filter.

Click OK, and slicer buttons will appear!

Now click the slicer buttons to filter your PivotTable instantly.

Using a Slicer with a Table (Not PivotTable)
If you’re using a normal Excel Table:

    Click anywhere in your table.

Go to the Table Design tab (or just Design).

    Click Insert Slicer.

Choose the columns you want slicers for.

Click OK and enjoy interactive filtering!
